"I have a .357 Desert Eagle that requires 158 grain to cycle. I fired 25 of these, and they just barely cycled. At the same time, I shot Remington-UMC 125 grain, and was very pleased. The 180 grain might be good for a revolver, but just ok for my Desert Eagle."

"For the Price, this ammo is pretty good. But, expect to have to clean your gun immediately. A lot of black soot covered my Taurus Ultalight. Lots of kick & power....."

"This was the first BVAC ammo I've bought so far and it definitely will not be the last. I've read some reviews before that it's dirty ammo, but in my opinion it wasn't any dirtier than any other ammo I've shot. This particular BVAC (the 180 gr. JFP) is for my Taurus 605. Yes, it has a bigger kick than most loads, but its a bear load. I'm very pleased with it, very clean reloadable brass, and the jacketed flat point bullets are top of the line. Thank you Cheaper Than Dirt."

"I've been sighting in a baby rolling block carbine with a 3x Malcolm scope at 100 yds. 22\" barrel. This load has given my best groups so far, better than 1 inch. Fun to shoot."

"This is a full power round with a super heavy projectile. I load these in my backpack gun when hiking in grizzly country. One of these rounds blew a 3\" phone book to confetti at 7 yards. I would stake my life on them, no question."

"I have bought several boxes of these. I have recieved 2 different loads with different orders of the same product. The first boxes were labeled \"180 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Bear Load\" , however inside the box is actually a jacketed flat nose bullet. On a later order the boxes were labeled \"180 Grain Bear Load\", however inside were the jacketed hollow points. I have emailed BVAC tech support about this with no response. The flat points seem to be great loads, luckily I have a few boxes left of those. I will not be ordering any more. I don't know what load I'm gonna get."

"Excellent price on some powerful self defense rounds. They perform very well in range tests. You can't beat the price."

"I received 200 rounds last week and went straight to the range and fired off half of the 200. when I got home I ordered 500 more. This truly is top quality self defense ammo, so get it when you can."

"I bought a couple of boxes of these and expected a 180 grain JFN bullet to do the job as I do hike in bear country through the Blue Ridge Mtns. What I got is a JHP that in no way could be 180 grains. This should be a good personal defense round but not the bear round I was expecting. It does say JHP on the website though."

"Bought a box for personal defense against bears when we go tent camping.Campground is quite aways from town. All kinds of wildlife.I will sleep better knowing that if I have to defend me and my son these are the heaviest loads for my 7 shot magnum. Nice nickel plated case, and 6 slits at the tip of the bullet for mazimum expension.May order a few more boxes just to hang on to. THANKS C.T.D."

"First time I squeezed the trigger I would have sworn I was shooting my cousin's Super Redhawk (.44 mag) I have no complaints with this ammo, I wish I could have shot it through a Marlin or a Winchester lever action. Hornady XTP JHP seated into Fiocchi nickel plated brass, what more do you want?"

"Received this yesterday and it is totally different than described. Advertised was a XTP JHP (Hornady) and what I got was a semi jacket \"something\". All it said was 180 gr Bear Load. The only reason I bought it was for the XTP JHP Hornady. I am in the process of working something out with CTD customer service. Will update with the outcome."

"This is a follow up to my previous review. Had the issue of the wrong bullet being on the ammo and how would CTD handle the situation. Well my follow up grade for their customer service is 5 bullets. If I could give more I would. I wrote them a email and received a phone call reply back in hours. I talked to Latasha and she handled it BEYOND my expectations. Its nice to know CTD still considers a small buyer like myself important. Thank you Latasha, and thank you CTD. Jon (still a very satisfied CTD customer)"

"This used to be a great .357 carbine round when they made it using the Hornady XTP flat nose bullet. Now they use a hollow point bullet, and it's just another HP cartridge like so many others."

"I would have given it a 5 bullets rating, but I haven't shot it yet. After I received it, I gave it a visual inspection and it looks like very high quality ammo. Well made and definitely heavy for a .357 Mag. You can clearly tell it has a big bullet in it. And when shaking a .38 Special or other .357 Magnums, you can often hear the sound of power moving around when you shake it. But with this bullet - dead silence. It's clearly packed to the brim with powder. This will be fun ammo, I can tell."

"I run WVO in my truck and have a big problem with bears because of the odor (8 or 9 bears per night in September and October). After firing this ammo it is very accurate and definitely has more bang for the buck than any other .357 ammo I have used."

"I tested a few rounds so far, and it's good stuff. I shot a cinder block, 5 gallon jug of wetpack, and a tegu lizzard that was in my backyard. They laugh at .22 lr & .38 Spl. I shot this 4 foot SOB in the chest and all I can say is damn! Spaghetti and meatballs!"

"The difference between 158 grain and the 180 grain is day and night. The recoil and chamber pressure have increased nicely. It only took one round at 25 ft to explode a 20 inch pumpkin full of water. This may be the answer to self defense against a perpetrator wearing body armor. Not sure. Will have to do some testing on body armor."
