Byrd Robin Partially Serrated Folding Knife -
Its stainless steel handle is champhered for ergonomic pinch free cutting that reduces user fatigue and discomfort. The steel handle offers just enough weight to reassuringly remind you it's in your pocket, ready when you are. Jimping (texturing) at the spine and choil keep the folder firmly in your grip creating more purchase and control even when cutting strenuously or for long periods of time. Hollow ground, the blade is made with high carbon 8Cr13MoV and available with a PlainEdge or fully serrated cutting surface. A tip up and tip down right hand pocket clip lets you to clip the folder inside a pocket or waistband.

Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.

8Cr13MoV -
Chinese stainless steel tempered at the Rc56 to Rc58 range and used in the Tenacious, Persistence, and Byrd lines of knives.

Tip Up and Tip Down -
Refers to which direction the folded knife if positioned by its pocket clip. When closed and clipped in a pocket, whichever direction (up or down) the blade's tip sits defines if it is termed tip up  or tip down.

PlainEdge -
This is a sharpened knife blade with no serrations or teeth. It is sometimes called a smooth blade.

"I purchased this knife because of length restrictions on my college campus (knives that fall into a weapon category can only be have a blade 2.5\" or shorter) and was immediately impressed by the quality of the knife. While it is small it is a hefty and tight fitting knife. The belt/pocket clip is extremely strong so the knife will not just fall or slip out of your pocket (unlike my other knife which cost more). The belt clip is can be reversed to your preference. The blade is also nice and sharp which probably should have been mentioned first. One thing I didn't expect was to find that Spyderco is actually the importer of the knife and that the knife is made in China to Sypderco's specs. This of course keeps the cost down for such a nice knife."

"I was looking for an everyday pocket knife that met several requirements: legal to carry, one hand opening, functional and durable. This one is all that. Very sharp, all stainless steel construction, strong clip for secure carry and it fits well in the watch pocket of your jeans. I intend to buy its bigger brother for camping/hunting."
