Byrd Robin Partially Serrated Folding Knife -
Its stainless steel handle is champhered for ergonomic pinch free cutting that reduces user fatigue and discomfort. The steel handle offers just enough weight to reassuringly remind you it's in your pocket, ready when you are. Jimping (texturing) at the spine and choil keep the folder firmly in your grip creating more purchase and control even when cutting strenuously or for long periods of time. Hollow ground, the blade is made with high carbon 8Cr13MoV and available with a PlainEdge or fully serrated cutting surface. A tip up and tip down right hand pocket clip lets you to clip the folder inside a pocket or waistband.
Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.
Chinese stainless steel tempered at the Rc56 to Rc58 range and used in the Tenacious, Persistence, and Byrd lines of knives.
Tip Up and Tip Down -
Refers to which direction the folded knife if positioned by its pocket clip. When closed and clipped in a pocket, whichever direction (up or down) the blade's tip sits defines if it is termed tip up or tip down.
This is a sharpened knife blade with no serrations or teeth. It is sometimes called a smooth blade.
