"Made by Tramontina of Brasil these are the coveted high-quality tools that you want. The heavy, but perfectly balanced high carbon steel blades need only to be oiled, sharpened & kept from rain. The handles need to be treated with mineral oil. I had some heavy t'storm damage in my front yard and broke out the Brasilian machete- it is so much easier and convenient to use than any Chinese lopper or flimsy imitation. I was done slashing in 7 minutes and never broke out a sweat. Highly reccomended, this is the tool that you want."

"These could easily sell for much more. Great quality, sharp. Well balanced. This should last a lifetime and stand up to some heavy use. Glad i went with this one. No sheath included, but no big deal at this price and value."

"At first glance, it doesnt look that sharp, and i dont think it is. I took it out and whacked the heck out of some limbs and it did fine. the last 1.5'' of the point they didnt sharpen like most of the other machettes ive seen so I will finnish it off. It sure works for what its made for and for this price, what do you want? Ill use it till it breaks and most likely get another."

"I've needed a machete for along time, but the crap I've seen in stores like walmart, etc were not worth having. I saw a Gerber one recently that I liked but it was too much and had a saw back though.I was ordering stuff from CTD and I saw this one and said what the hey. When I opened the box I was impressed, this soon changed to blown away. I am a machinist/toolmaker, and have made about 300 custom knives over the last 30 years. I couldn't do this good for less than $100.This machete is BY FAR the best made machete I've ever seen. It is made in Brazil by Tramontina and is made of Hardened Steel, pobably 5150 (leaf spring material). It has a uniform \"timesaved\" (like stainless appliances) finish and a real nice Hardwood handle which is riveted in place and feels good in the hand. This tool was definately made to be actually used!!! I drilled a lanyard hole through the handle and tang of the blade, and promptly burned up a Cobalt drill bit. I had to finish the hole with a solid carbide drill bit!! Believe me I wouldn't have spent the time to write this review if this thing wasn't something special!! And for this price it is 100 miles beyond my expectations. I'm gonna order a 12\" one too, since this one is so good. I expect it will be more of the same.Real good deal!Randy"

"I was really surprised when I took this machete out of the box. I can't remember the last time I got anything this good for this price. Full tang blade, fairly sharp, nice gleaming finish, with \"Tramontina Brazil\" etched into the steel. The handle is very well made and fits tight to the blade with no wobble whatsoever. The whole thing has a nice solid heft to it, without being too heavy. It slices through small branches and brush with ease, and would also make a formidable close quarters weapon if need be. I doubt there is another machete out there that approaches this quality for the price. Ten times better than the similarly priced wally-world junk. If there's one thing they ought to know how to make in Brazil it's a machete, right? I wish I'd bought a few more. Super-quick shipping by CTD as well. Ordered my stuff on Wednesday, got it on Friday."

"The 12\" blade is a handy bush or survival knife. File the entire edge with a mill file, steel is soft enough to touch up with a crock stick. Cut about 1.5 inches off the back with a hacksaw to make a drop point, sharpen, makes a nice stabbing point. Blade length will be 11.5 inches. As essential as your fire starter and compass."

"Great brazilian quality."

"Ok, this is a great machete! It is sturdy and sharp and almost full-tang. It clears out brush well. My only complaint is the stupid UPC sticker that is on the side. It is big and ugly and when you peel it off it leaves goo behind. I know its not a huge deal or anything but when you use it to chop outside dirt clings to the goo like a magnet."

"I bought this a few years ago on a whim cause i live and hunt in fl. The other day i needed to cut a bush out of my yard that the electric trimmer wouldn't cut so a buddy came over and started using a proffesional south florida cane knife. Light dawned on marble head, so i ran inside and grabbed this tool from under the work bench and after using it all i could say was wow, sharpened it and finished the grind on the tip...it cut through 2 and 3 inch branches like butter and if you cut at a 45 degree angle like your suppose to with blades on branch it would go through 5 inch and up with 2 swipes, better than my hatchet. highly recommend, came back here to buy a couple more. also, use a little rubbing alcohol to take the goo off where the sticker is."

"This is a great machete and plenty worth the money. I have been using it since I got it a week ago, and still hacks through pieces of wood like a hatchet. Pretty solid!"

"A good blade, surprisingly thick. The handle is a good size, but a little cramped for my relatively small hands. I wished it came with a sheath, as it's weight, and durability would lend itself well to hiking or camping. It does exactly what a machete should do, without trying to be anything else."

"For the price, this machete will hack anything that needs hacking. It holds an edge well and is easily re-sharpened. I use a grinder and a fine file. Just wrap the wood handle in some 550 cord or tape and it's perfect! My only complaint is it doesn't come with a sheath."
