SEO CONTENT WRITER

The Content Writer will produce content for use on CheaperThanDirt.com in a variety of areas including product descriptions, marketing display copy, landing pages, infographics, and knowledge-base articles (e.g. tips and tricks). Keyword usage data, keyword banks, and related SEO research will be regular components of the copywriting in this role, in addition to standard grammar rules and adoption of brand voice.

Strong organizational and self-editing skills are vital to success in this role. The SEO Content Writer role will work with our SEO team and report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Write clear, concise and convincing marketing copy that is grammatically and factually accurate
  • Consult necessary sources to provide the most accurate information on our products
  • Work with key team members to develop content to meet key SEO goals and needs including creative strategies, content flow processes, and deadlines.
  • Ensures all content is current, relevant, and aligns with Cheaper Than Dirt’s goals
  • Maintain best practices and use of Cheaper Than Dirt style guidelines
  • Communicate cross functionally with other key internal departments
  • Keep current on trends within copywriting, SEO, and industry for best practices
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience
  • E-Commerce experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years experience in marketing copywriting
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proficiency in common SEO best practices
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of HTML
  • Firearms and shooting sports knowledge
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is necessary
  • Ability to thrive and adjust in a fast-paced environment

SEO STRATEGY SPECIALIST

The SEO Strategy Specialist will be responsible for providing search engine optimization strategy to maximize lead generation and conversion. This person will identify and execute opportunities to improve Cheaper Than Dirt’s search rank for key terms at the top, middle, and bottom of the marketing funnel. This team member will be focused on all Cheaper Than Dirt websites and content including the main ecommerce site and blog subdomain, and will work closely with others within the SEO and marketing teams including the SEO Content Writer(s).

This person should have knowledge of SEO best practices, SERP familiarity, and the analytical skills to support his/her strategies. The SEO Strategy Specialist must be goal oriented and possess the drive to increase sales and enhance overall website customer experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Make strategic recommendations at the category and product levels to improve ranking of targeted areas
  • Improve early-stage keyword performance alongside high-intent terms
  • Review recommendations within SEO Tool (Conductor Searchlight) and coordinate implementation
  • Manage organic search engine performance and goal setting
  • Perform competitive reviews and make suggestions accordingly 
  • Review internal site search on a weekly basis and enhance search results when possible
  • Create regular performance reports of assigned verticals for inter-departmental use
  • Work closely with marketing and purchasing teams for conversion improvement opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned
