Shot Show 2017: Accessories: The Best for the Best

If there’s one thing that retailers know, it’s that accessories sell—no matter which firearms are hot. With plenty of handguns and MSRs driving foot traffic in 2016, retailers also reported high accessory turns for rails, flashlights, and waterfowl decoys. Women’s specialty products were up, and there were plenty of deer-hunting items making the register ring. For the 2017 SHOT Show, there are literally miles of accessories to view. SHOT Show 2017: Handguns: Innovation at Its Finest

We are continuing to see suppressor-ready variants, and these are not limited to centerfire handguns. The demand for new and varied 1911s remains strong, and one manufacturer has upped the ante with a high-grade line of custom revolvers. With the dawn of the new millennium, shooters might have suspected an unprecedented level of innovation with regard to firearms. That’s something we’ve yet to see. Not so with ammunition. A few short years ago, factory ammunition was a generalized offering—if shooters needed specialization, they had to handload. Today, that’s hardly the case. Ammunition manufacturers have diversified their offerings more and more every year, and 2017 is no exception. Factory ammunition just keeps getting more varied and better.

Suppressor ownership is on the horizon and hopefully coming to your home soon—without waiting months or paying for costly tax stamps. Talking with suppressor manufacturers, few believe we will see the legislation in the first 100 days of Donald Trump’s presidency, but all are confident that it will come. To that end, SilencerCo’s Maxim 9 is worth a look.
