Folks, This is a Excellent USMC/USA Pilot Survival Kit that was packed back in 1991. I opened one up and was amazed at the excellent items inside. Same kits that we carried in Desert Storm. keep finding this items in this quality.

4.0 Rating Good Kit for starters - 3/24/2009
Reviewer: Gunny Felker
I teach survival & e&r at the U.S. Army LRSLC Course and this is a kit I always recommend. You are gonna have to open it up, because like any kit, you have to build it based on the terrain you are operating in. This kit has some not-so-great items that you are going to want to ditch: The finger saw is crap, as most wire saws are. They break easily. Buy a good chainsaw and keep it in your kit instead ($20). The water carrier is ok, but can be replaced by 2 yard trash bags (same size & wt) which can be used for thousands of other tasks. Strip out the fishing kit and only include items needed, ie. if you are a boats guy, don't put the tiny perch hooks in, only the open water large hooks for saltwater fishing. If you are in the mountains or woods, get rid of the big stuff. I was able to build a nice mountains survival kit that will fit into the fishing kit box. All of the other equipment is nice, but unless you are a civilian keeping it in your car or boat, most of the gear like a knife, mirror, fire starter, and compass you will hopefully have in your pocket. Good Luck! -Gunny

4.0 Rating Marine SK(circa 1992) - 2/20/2009

I noticed these for awhile in the catalog. I finally decided to take a chance, and ordered 2 kits. Upon receiving, of course I had to open 1 kit, both A and B side. The kits are about 17-18 years old, new condition, but show signs of long term storage on outer wrapping. Contents of the kit I opened were pristine, with 1 exception. The Fishing kit(emergency)had signs of minor rust on certain items within said fishing kit. Still, all items readily usable. Probably due to high humidity conditions when the fishing kits were packed. Also, the excellent wire saw with it's spare blade, were enclosed in the fishing kit. All items are packed in plastic bags, within the outer heavy duty canvas/foil vapor barrier packaging. The contract Brunton compass, GI pocket knife, magnesium fire-starter, 2X3" GI signal mirror and 3 pint water carrier are worth some bucks.
