|It turns out that the firing mechanism only automatically goes into SA mode after a shot is fired. I actually shot it to figure out this wonderful fact. Unless I just missed it several times, it does not state this in the manual. You can, however, manually place it into SA mode if you rack the slide back (either lock it or hold it) and then squeeze the trigger until it clicks. I wouldn't exactly recommend that because accidents do happen. I guess Taurus purposely intended this weapon to be fired in DA mode for the first shot for whatever reason.
As for the feeling of this pistol, I would say it is pretty comfortable. Comes with 3 different size back straps. Main reason I bought this was because I wanted a full size, high capacity .45 ACP and didn't want to pay the high price of an XD or Glock. Great buy so far. Hopefully it holds up.
