4.0 Rating My TAURUS PT740 SLIM .40 cal - 9/7/2012
Reviewer: Stan N Goose Creek,SC
I purchased my PT740 a couple of weeks ago (August 2012), and it only took a few days to arrive at my FFL dealer. They called me to pick up, which I hurredly did...very anxious. The pistol was in its case, with an extra magazine. I had to clean the factory protective cosmoline, which didn't take very long. Later that same day, I went to my local indoor pistol range, and ran 2 boxes of ammo through the pistol. No problems with the performance of the pistol, other than the factory sights were just a bit off; low and to the right, but after a little "Kentucky Windage" adjustment, it was shooting a nice grouping. I haven't reset the adjustable rear sight yet, maybe at my next outing this weekend. I did note that the grip on the pistol is my only real complaint. Just didn't have the kind of feel I am used to. The pistol does have a bit of a kick, and rightly so, but this is expected. I have since ordered a "Grip Sleeve" to help with the recoil. Overall, I am very satisfied. The pistol is what I expected, and I am happy with it. I bought a nice leather IWB holster for it, and the gun rides nicely, with no noticeable weight. In MY opinion, this is money well spent. I wanted a "good caliber" pistol to carry concealed, and this gun fits my needs exactly. Thanks to CTD for a price that most everyone can afford, which was way cheaper than the local gun shops. 'nuff said. Stan N Goose Creek,SC

2.0 Rating Not Happy - 1/19/2011
Reviewer: Mike
Purchased a 740 slim and was excited about it. It's a great size for me because I have smaller hands and it fit in a lot of places. The problem came when I discovered the gun was shooting low and to the left right out of the box and the sight adjustment did little to help. I contacted Taurus and they were quick to have me send it back. From then on it went down hill. After a month Taurus still didn't have the parts to fix it and I began insisting that they just replace the gun sine it was bad right out of the box. I requested Cheaper Than Dirt to get their customer service involved because I bought the gun from them and they pretty much told me to kiss off, not their problem. After 2 weeks more of being ignored at Taurus I finally got ahold of a supervisor and they agreed to replace the gun since it has been 6 weeks and they don't know when the parts wll be in. Okay, Fine I thought. Well, since it is a new gun they can't ship it to my house it has to go to a dealer. The dealer charges $25 for the state law paperwork. Taurus and Cheaper Than Dirt both refuse to pay this fee. Not sure buying online is really cheaper in the long run. I thought I had hooked up with 2 companies that were great, I am planning on buying numerous guns in the near future but doubt that they will be from Taurus or Cheaper Than Dirt.
