|Just a heads up to anyone interested in purchasing this item (Blackhawk Knoxx Folding Spec-Ops Stock).
To prevent injury, be sure to read the instruction manual.
I have this stock installed on my Remington 870 Express Magnum and I really do like it.
However I would like to make you aware of the following:
The stock will typically need removed to allow full disassembly of you firearm, which includes removal of the trigger housing.
Due to its recoil-reducing design, this stock will not function with any extended safeties.
Installing this folding stock on your firearm will also limit you options on side saddle shell carriers.
You DO NOT want to cheek weld this stock as you can be injured very easily. I have seen this stock cause a few busted lips a loose teeth even with informed and experience shooters.
And the steel rod the stock is constructed from vibrates like a tuning fork after each round is fired and the sensation is quite uncomfortable against you jawbone ;).
Because of the sliding motion inherent to the stocks recoil reducing design, you must also take care when firing a weapon equipped with a scope. If you have not mounted your scope with this stocks function in mind, it is very likely that you will be struck when the scope slides rearward upon firing.
You will most likely also have to drill out the sling mount hole as it is a smaller diameter than most standard sling attachment hardware.
Earlier models did not possess the "cup" at the rear of stock assembly. So with those models you have to be careful not to get your face to close to the rear of the stock. Otherwise the receiver will slide back when fired and strike you in the face and you will very likely sustain serious injury. The earlier models also possessed a longer stock which (in the folded position) would interfere with the function of a standard length forend. This meant in order to rack the forend fully rearward (with the stock folded), you had to either install a shorter forend or shorten the existing forend to accommodate the stock in its folded position.|
