For $200 this is not a bad work horse. it's solid overall and its a great 1st shot gun and home defense. for $200 u really can't go wrong. unfortunatly CTD isn't offering this model anymore.

4.0 Rating Cheapest 8 shot I've seen - 10/3/2012
Reviewer: Jimbo
I'm a novice when it comes to shotguns, but I've also held and shot various kinds. From what I can tell it is of decent construction, seems to be no worse than a regular Mossberg 500. The slide racks nicely and trigger seems ok. Reloading is fairly easy, maybe a bit stiff, but that's to be expected when new. A couple bad things: I'm not sure if most other shotgun pump handles have some kind of inner sleeve that slides amongst the magazine tube without wearing the finish, but this pump handle is just plain plastic with plastic ribs on the inside that ride along the magazine tube. Already, after only a couple of dozen cycles, the bluing is wearing off the mag tube. It also sort of wiggles left/right (or amongst the axis of the mag tube). Again, I'm not sure how common these things are, but it's annoying. The other thing is it doesn't come with swivel studs. So you have to buy that extra if you want a sling. You're going to want a sling if you plan on carrying it for a while as it is fairly heavy. There's a small threaded hole in the head of the barrel screw (that goes into the end of the mag tube) and a flat spot on the stock to mount the studs. Unfortunately, I have not been able to shoot it yet. The butt pad seems sort of stiff compared to others I've felt and also has rubber flashing around it's molding seams which makes it look cheap, but not a big deal as I will probably be changing out the stock anyway. The receiver seems to be made out of a heavy duty aluminum alloy but I might be wrong. So far, I feel like I got what I paid for. Including studs would have been nice, but not too hard to fix. This is also one of the sexier/cleaner looking guns IMO with the symmetric length of the tubes paired together. As far as the magazine capacity, for 3" it says 6 and 2-3/4" it says 7, but you can fit five 3" shells with 2 2-3/4" shells for max shell count/load. I've always liked mag tubes that go to the end of the barrel and rarely do you find them at this price new. I have heard of people say that the Mavericks are imports which is what makes them cheap. Well, on this one I have a MADE IN USA sticker on the stock and the barrel and receiver are stamped with Eagle Pass, TX.
