5.0 Rating Great Bore Sight For Those With Half A Brain - 8/10/2011
Reviewer: Lurend
I purchased this to help aid me in sighting in a new scope. I was hesitant after reading an earlier review here about it not having something to line up with. After receiving it, reading the instructions and experimenting with it a little I found out the reason why... It is adjustable to the height of your scope. You line up the window on the boresighter with about where you think the middle of your reticle is. That worried me at first thinking it can't be accurate from that, so I tried a little experiment. I moved the boresighter up and down quite a bit on the barrel, I don't know how they made it work the way they did, but the crosshairs in the boresighter stayed consistant with my first measurement. Brought it to the range and nailed the paper. Adjusted my scope from the zero, and one shot later I was dead on. I put the boresighter back on my barrel and recorded the position. Now I know exactly if I'm on zero before I even leave for the range and can check it without firing a single shot. This is a great tool for those that have a little common sense and half a brain to learn how to use it properly. I have already recommended to a friend and let him try it with similar success. Great job Leupold!

2.0 Rating Not much of a boresighter. - 2/10/2008
Reviewer: Anything else
I bought one of these thinking I could boresight a freshly mounted scope. Not much help there. With the magnetic mounting system it uses you can pretty much put it on your barrel anywhere. Nothing to line up the bore with the reticle in the scope but your imagination. May work well to recheck your zero after a fall etc. but not much good to boresight a new scope. Even though it has a brand name mine had a bubble in the sight picture that distracted from the image, I'm returning it. Wasn't worth the high cost.
