Brand: Military DP-66M
Item: TRW-102

Greetings Comrade! Straight from the now defunct Soviet Union storage bunkers, we have located a small number of DP-66M Russian military Geiger counters.

Used by Soviet troops during the height of the cold war, these 40+ year old units have been well preserved and are fully functional. Issued to troops, but collectable quality still, each Geiger counter kit comes inside a heavy duty wooden box with a main compartment for the detector and separate compartments for each accessory.

Components may vary slightly per kit, but most will include an optional extension arm for sweeping the ground or other objects with the detection head, plastic bags to wrap the detection head so as to keep it from water and soil contamination, headphones so unit can be used silently, inspection booklet with log entries, and an operators manual (in Russian) on how to test, operate, and maintain the unit.

Each DP-66M is constructed of Bakelite and mounted inside a heavy duty leather carrying case with included neck and shoulder straps. Audible tones as well as a moving needle on the backlit dial help the user understand the level of radiation that is being detected.

Units operate using two modern "D" size batteries, but include an original AC adaptor assembly (not for use with modern U.S. AC receptacles).

Carrying case includes a rubber handle and outside dimensions measure 14" Long X 10" Wide X 6.5" High and weighs 15.75 lbs.

These are a rare find and our limited supply won't last long. Get yours today before we have to say "Do Svidaniya" to them forever. These are sold as collector pieces.

4.0 Rating Neat piece of Cold War militaria! - 10/23/2013
Reviewer: Milsurp Collector
Unit received was a nice DP-66 model built in 1971. My unit was not the later "M" model (DP-66M) as advertised, however they are basically the same. The unit came with all the accessories stated in the ad, and all were in good/serviceable condition. The unit itself powers up and passes circuit check, however sub-range III (0.5 R/hr) is not functional and sub-range VI (200 R/hr) suffers from low audio output and sensitivity. Surprisingly, the backlight is still functional and the phosphorus coated display will still glow in the dark if left exposed to daylight for a period of time. It should be noted that these units are actually Polish military issue, not Russian. Nonetheless, these are still a neat piece of Cold War era militaria not often encountered on the market here in the States. Definitely recommended for Cold War collectors, however those looking for a fully functional Geiger counter for a SHTF situation might want to look elsewhere.

5.0 Rating super cool! - 4/22/2014

I just received this and it came as advertised, with all accessories! I took it out and put batteries in and all works I think? Don't know how to test it but the needles moved and it lights! Guess I'll have to find some radiation to test it? Mine was dated 1976, and in super shape! Very happy! Highly recommend if your thinking about it!

1.0 Rating Not Russian - 6/2/2014
Reviewer: Tony
First and foremost, this item IS NOT Russian, it is from Czechoslovakia. The manuals are in Czech and all the writing on the device are in Czech. It may be a Russian produced item, but there is not one shred of Russian to be found on the box, the manuals, or the device's all Czech. So, in my book, that makes this Czech and not Russian. Other than that, it is pretty neat.
