I recently got an M1-Garand and had read in an online article saying to avoid firing the Garand with an empty chamber which - as I recall could damage the firing mechanisms or the firing pin. Many parts for Garands tend to be hard to find, pricey, or both. I only got 2 packs of these (4 snap caps) to try before getting the 8 really needed to work with the en-bloc 8 round clips that are used by Garands. During testing I therefore used 4 live rounds (safety on after 4 and ejecting last 4) for the last 4 fed from the clip and always pulled the bolt back slightly to verify that the one in the chamber was one of the red snap caps before pulling trigger. I will order 4 more when I order again since I might be distracted while loading the clip, fail to check the one in the chamber, and pull trigger on 5th round...
