I bought this scope for use with an AR 15 with the standard carry handle receiver. One thing I liked about it was the lever type locking nut with the leaf spring that appeared to be a good way to mount and remove the scope without tools. However, the lever type locking nut is poorly designed and will not work out of the box for several reasons. First, it is supposed to be retained by a machine screw that comes out of the bottom of the channel base on the scope. The screw is too short and only goes about half way into two retaining nuts that come with the scope, the levered nut and the round nut that is to be used with the Weaver type base. The machine screw would be difficult to change, as it appears to have been fed into the channel thru the hole in the end of the channel and its treaded portion dropping out thru a hole in the bottom of the channel. It is retained in position by a very small roll pin that will have to be driven into the channel to get it to fall free so the machine screw can be removed. A slightly larger roll pin would be needed to replace the original one. When I tried to attach the lever nut after setting the scope in position on the carry handle, the end of the screw would not even reach the nut. The leaf spring on the nut is too stiff to bend, so the nut will come in contact with the screw, the two bent ends on the spring are too high, and the lever is a sloppy fit in relation to the two detent holes on the spring that the lever is supposed to lock into to hold it in position; they just don't come in contact. I ended up having to use a Dremel to lower the two end tabs on the leaf spring to get the nut closer to the screw, at which time it barely held. The threads on the nut are a bit loose in relation to the screw's diameter and barely grasp the screw's threads. To help get a better fit, I ground off the top side of the nut just above its snap ring retainer because the upper side of the screw is beveled a bit above the threads. Once I got it lower, I did get some contact on the screw and had it barely finger tight when the tips of the threads on the screw stripped - just a real fine shaving of the threads, but it was enough. The lever nut is useless as designed. I ended up using the round nut that was meant to be used with the weaver type base but had to fabricate a thin vinyl washer for it to get a good friction fit to the bottom side of the carry handle. The scope is snug now but I plan to use a little blue Loctite on the nut to keep it from backing off when fired. The scope itself appears to work well and both the red and green are adjustable for brightness. I haven't taken it to the range yet, so I don't have any idea if it will hold zero or not. The scope doesn't seem to be too bad, although I wouldn't recommend wasting time trying to get the lever locking nut to work. Just save yourself a headache and use the round nut with some type of locking nut. The weaver base appears to be OK. I didn't see any problems with it other than the short screw in the channel under the scope, which could be a good 3/16 inch longer. More to follow after I get the scope out to the range to see how it zeroes and if it will hold its zero.
