I purchased this item for my 191 series mini-14 ranch rifle so that i could mount optics on my rifle. I am very dissapointed in this product. The first time I installed it I stripped one of the screws out of the rail, "oh well," I said as I thought that the other screws would suffice... wrong. After firing about 20 rounds with it on, the rear of the mount came loose. I've tried several other methods using the rail, including drilling the rail out and using through-bolts and nuts to no avail, this rail is straight garbage... do not buy, its a waste of time and money.

Manufactuer's Description is VERY deceptive when it says that this rail will fit all Mini-14's. As others have noted, it " Fits ALL Mini 14 and Mini 30 Ranch Rifles" only if you cut off the rear two inches of the mount or remove the Ruger rear factory sight. Worse, it will not stay tight when firing more than a few dozen rounds, even when using Loctite on the mounting screws. PURE JUNK!!

This rail did not fit my mini. I had to cut 2 inches off the rear of it to allow it to clear my rear sight.

Same complaints as NorCal223, strange mounting setup, soft screws,broken screws,etc.etc. This mounting base also places a holosight too high, so that you cannot use it with a normal cheek weld on the stock. Mounting clips do not allow for easy removal and remounting. This base was a total disaster.Save your money and find a more suitable product.

Bought this for my Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle as a replacement of the quad rail i previously bought that made the rifle too heavy in the front. This rail wouldn't work on my rifle unless I completely removed the rear sight assembly so I decided to hacksaw about 2 inches off the end and it fit perfectly! The mounting system is kind of weird but it works. One of the screws broke off when I was tightening down the rail under less pressure than i would assume for a mounting rail. Eotech 512 fit Perfectly after Modding. Overall the rail is well made and I think it should work out short of missing one screw. Manufactured by NcSTAR. Made in China.
