It doesn't get any fresher than this! We found a limited supply of lemon poppy seed cakes produced August of 2012. Supplied by a current D.O.D. MRE contractor, each 2 ounce lemon poppy seed pound cake is individually sealed and has an optimal shelf life of 3 years. Manufacture date is branded on each package and reads from left to right: Year of Production, Day of Production, and Shift of Production. For example: 0349B = 2010, 349th day, Second shift. Sold in their factory original cases of 100 individual servings, each serving is 310 calories.

We got some of these when they were $60 and thought we would try them. How bad could they be? They are a great MRE product. Moist and flavorful. We have had a great time taking them on camp outs, hikes and put a few in the emergency packs. I may have to get some more now that they are even less expensive, 'cause we are almost out. Don't get me wrong, they are not as good as fresh from the oven, but I thought they are better than Little Debbies or something like that.

These things taste great! Both my kids love them, and my wife, who doesn't like pound cake, even likes them. Note that they have only 270 calories per cake, not the 310 advertised on website. Mine were very fresh as well, and only made a few months ago. Thanks, CTD!

I thought these would be good to set back as an emergency food. The only problem is making sure you don't eat them all. They taste great. Ordering more now.
