| I purchased this bag online while deployed, for my wife to use for school and travel. When I got home a few months later, I liked it more than she did, so I started using it as my garrison bag, while she used one of my assault packs. I really like the layout of the bag, and if it wasn't apparently manufactured by a drunken chimpanzee, it'd be the best pack I've ever owned. Fact is, I carry my uniform, phone, and wallet to work in this bag, and use it to carry home my PTs. It sits in my Jeep's passenger seat while I'm at work. In the 2 months I've used it, it hasn't had more than 15 lbs in it (more like 10...being liberal), and has never been out to the field. This being the case...
THERE ARE 2 HAND-SIZED HOLES WHERE THE STITCHING FAILED!!!
Both holes are on the bottom of the pack...one on each bottom corner of the middle pocket. I discovered this when stuff randomly started falling out of the pack, as the seams are very well concealed.
When I first started using this bag, I planned on buying 3 more...one as a CLS bag (it's laid out perfectly for medical/trauma supplies), one for camping, and one for my next deployment. Now, I'm stuck with trying to repair this one (I hate throwing anything away).
I don't know about those who have written about using their bag for deployment, but I can guarantee you that if you plan on carrying this bag outside the wire, it IS going to fail you!
On a side note, a guy in my company had this bag as well. I didn't really notice it, as he and I were usually patrolling separate areas while in southern Afghanistan. He noticed my bag the other day, and mentioned that his lasted only HALF WAY INTO A 10-DAY MISSION!!!
CTD...y'all are golden...but how about some quality control before you actually ship your products? 2 out of 2 bags failing? Fun times :/
