NBC FILTER CANISTER TYPE 80

The Type 80 filter canister was developed for the Israel Defense Force (IDF) to provide Protection against all known NBC agents in the form of vapors and aerosols. It is Supplied as an integral part of all Shalon's personal respiratory protection systems. The Type 80 is a robust durable canister intended for military and civil defense use. It is specially designed for comfort and extended use at a minimal physiological load, having low breathing resistance and low weight. Its design assures optimal performance complying with all IDF specifications as well as the performance requirements of the American Army C2 filter canister. The filter is supplied with a standard NATO thread (40 mm x 1/7") and is thus compatible with almost all military and industrial respirators. The Type 80 filters are supplied sealed with leak-proof plastic caps, assuring a shelf life exceeding 15 years.

The production of Type 80 filter canisters is controlled by rigorous quality assurance tests and procedures. Each filter canister is tested in the production line for air flow resistance, aerosol penetration, leakage and workmanship, and cannot leave the factory without passing all these tests. In addition, Shalon's QA laboratories perform gas-life tests (cyanogens chloride, DMMP, chloropicrin, phosgene, HCN) on charcoal samples from each drum and on completed canisters sampled from each production lot.

I ordered more of these and I love them. I discovered a way to open them quickly and safely. What you do is get a knife and stab the seam in the middle of the pod. Then you use the tip of the knife to leverage off the filter inside to quickly cut the plastic. If you do it right, the knife will be facing away from you the whole time. This will not damage the filter, It only scratches the paint job a little. In an emergency, who cares if the filter is a little scratched. Also, what i do is I have several masks placed all over the house. Each mask is in a gas mask bag with two filters. One filter is this said filter, and the other is the normal type that have the cap on the intake. This way I can quickly open the other filter and have clean air while I work on the other one. That said I have VERY few of the other filters and have a considerable stockpile of these filters. That said A few days ago I was working on rebuilding my house. I was doing drywall and the dust was killing me. I went and put on a mask with one of these filters and absolutely nothing got through. GREAT

Ordered these to have on hand to use with my Finnish gas mask, using the 60-40mm adapter. Super fast shipping, I believe I got these next day, I live in TX. Sealed nicely and found direction online on how to open clam shell.

Sooo..I had been looking for some Nato filters for my Isreali mask when I saw these pop up a few months ago. In a hast I ordered 3...Not realizing they came in packs of 3. To my plesant surprise I got a total of 9! It was ok tho because of how cheap these were. The packing was great, tried to get into one and couldnt by hand so I just put it away till I needed it. Glad I didnt now after reading the review about decay and expiration once openend. I shoulda known better anyay but was excited bout the item. I havent tested it obviously but after reading the other reviews Im sure it'll work just fine.

This is a great buy on 40mm filters. Three for 13$ is much better than 1 for 9$ like most sites! These are a bit difficult to get into, but I think other reviewers have overstated the difficulty with which the filters are opened. All I had to do was pierce the mid section with a knife and then leverage the knife to cut around the soft plastic/wax like container. You don't need to cut around the entire container. Once you partially open the container you can grab both sides and pull the rest apart. This way the container can easily be opened in a minute or so. I appreciate the excellent packaging too--these filters were marked ABC 74... I'm assuming that means they were rated for Atomic, Biological, and Chemical hazards and produced in 1974.

I purchased a set of these for replacement filters for my M61 Finish gas mask. I found 60-40mm adapters so these will fit properly. I will not open these yet as I want to save them for the right time. Amazingly fast shipping. Received as described above. I will purchase more.
