4.0 Rating Great bargain and great condition - 5/9/2012

Ordered these for the whole family, as we were looking for a sleeping bag liner for camping (it gets cold in the Rockies, even in summer). Arrived quickly a usual and upon inspection, I was very happy to discover another CTD surplus item that was in great condition and well worth the money. The outer bag is tough and has great rubberized material on the bottom to insulate the user from the cold ground and moisture. Two of the five outer covers had heavy brass zippers instead of the originals, but nothing showed any wear and the fleece liners were heavier than I expected. Even the linen inner liners were in great shape and, once washed, were soft and comfortable. The two inner materials (fleece and linen) button together and the whole system can be used as a mummy bag. No complaints here and I am now almost glad we missed out on the blue fleece bag liners. For this price, you aren't going to find this type of system with this much quality anywhere else. We got a lot more from this setup than my wife or I expected. The entire system may be too cumbersome for hiking, but for car camping or kids over-nighters, they are perfect, tough, and comfortable. Thanks for another great surplus deal, CTD. Keep 'em coming.

3.0 Rating Good Value, but a bit snug - 6/3/2012
Reviewer: Matt from NC
I purchased this sleep system a few weeks ago, after researching various budget friendly options. It is worth the money I paid for it. However, I do have two complaints. One, the three pieces must all be buttoned together. The buttons are well stitched and durable, but VERY snug. My hands were quite sore after putting it together. And the same tight buttons act as the closure when rolling it back up. Second, I am a big guy (6'1", almost 300 lbs, size 52 dress jacket, weight lifter build) and I can only fit my torso and one arm into the bag when fully zipped. Since it's going to spend most of its time in the Jeep in case of emergencies, it's not a huge deal. Still, for the larger built among us, it's something to keep in mind.

4.0 Rating Good Value ! - 3/16/2013

I rarely review items online but thought this sleep system deserved a few comments. First, I think it's a good value and worthy of owning. CTD sent me a new unit (thank-you) but it had a slight surplus/new fabric odor. Its a fragrance many of us like but it dissipated within a few days. The internal button system is not a big deal either and only take 30 minutes or less to be operational. My objective for this system was to keep to a limited budget, have reasonable weight for limited distance hiking/camping, compression and not wake up freezing at 40 degrees, and soaked by dew. The outer shell and zipper are both good quality and appear to have a rubberized type coating on the bottom, and on the two-fold mummy type hood. This should keep you mostly dry under the stars. The middle green section also appears to be of quality workmanship and may have some wool content but is probably higher in synthetic if not 100%. The inner blue-ish cotton liner is like a very thick sheet and comfortable and could double as an SOS flag due to its color. (Not camo for sure). The three part system also makes a great blanket when opened. The outer shell alone could be compared to a jungle bag minus the netting. Compressed, it's about 28" by 12" and flipping it into the built-in pocket it tight, but that's the idea. As for fitting into this bag, it wasn't made for large overfed person. Remember, this was designed for fit military personnel and 6'2", 200 Lbs appears to be the target size, especially if you are zipped in, including the hood, and built-in rain fly. It's designed to survive the night, compress and pack-out asap. If was good enough for the Czech Army, it's good enough for my civilian use. I would NOT recommend using it below freezing unless other shelter/heat was in use. The "straps" by the way are to attach to a pack frame (bottom) or secure to the top of a pack. This system is effective for its purpose.

5.0 Rating Very nice! - 6/17/2014

What a great deal. Great for extra's in a cabin or car. I'd not hike with them, as they are a bit heavy, BUT are very well made and well worth the $20. I put these with my cots so I have a complete sleep setup if/when needed.
