Braided nylon parachute cord, with seven strands of nylon liner, can be used for fishing, snares, or sewing. The soft braided outer shell is durable yet cushioned, allowing this cord to be flexible so it is the perfect wrap for knife handles, spears, and survival gear. Mil-spec standard USA production and super quality.

Parachute cord, also called paracord or 550 cord, is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of US parachutes during World War II. It is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture. The all nylon construction makes paracord fairly elastic.

US Military issue paracord is specified the MIL-C-5040H standard. The Mil-Spec specifies six types: I, IA, II, IIA, III, IV. Type III, the most common, is nominally rated with a minimum breaking strength of 550 pounds, thus the term "550 cord". The US military specification for paracord contains specific denier figures for the sheath strands and inner yarns, but there are no overall diameter requirements for the cord.

All I can say is this stuff is awesome, Id buy more. Its the real deal parachute cord all the military use this stuff. And we all know you can never have enough cord, I learned that the hard way.

Just writing in to say this is definitely a 7 strand nylon inner core, and not the frayed spider-silk or 3 strand plus filler you may see on other "paracord" advertised items. I was able to easily separate the end into 7 individual strands. I have not measured out the total length yet, but I am sure that Cheaper Than Dirt would not falsely advertise an item. I will video document while measuring it out this weekend, just for accuracy purposes, and update or comment on this thread accordingly. Overall I am happy with the quality of cord at such a great price. Thanks.
