USGI M1 carbine type III sling and oiler. The oiler is designed to hold the end of the carbine sling in the buttstock while the other end attaches to the barrel band. This replica is nearly identical to the original government issue sling and oiler. Sling overall length is adjustable between 22" and 37.5", 1" width. Oiler specs : overall length 2.30 " , 0.44" diameter.

Good product with slight modification. As mentioned in other reviews, the tab needed to be flattened so it would fit through the slot in my Saginaw stock. I tried the other methods and the fix for me was to wrap the tip in a microfiber cloth and tap it flat with the flat end of a ball peen hammer on the bench vise. Installed by putting the sling through the front end of the slot in the stock, insert oiler from the left side, thread loose end behind the oiler (it is a snug fit) and it looks good and fits well. Filled oiler and good to go.

The sling that I received was missing the top half of the snap stud. Looks like a manufacturing defect. Packaging was intact. It would not remain secure. I have other carbine slings, so I could tell it wasn't right. I installed it on my Inland '43 just for grins, since another post indicated favorable results. The sling was extremely tight in the stock. although POSSIBLE to install, the degree of tightness made the oiler fuctionally worthless. Quality must be hit and miss, judging from the other reviews. I will be returning this one.

This sling is not correct for my CMP carbines...they don't fit. The metal tab is to big to fit through the stock without prior "adjustment"...cut the metal tab off or smash it in a vise! Would not buy again or recommend to anyone, OR expect to "adjust" the sling. This repro is a poor imitation of the real thing, poor production quality. Not good for M1 carbine. I gave it a 1 bullet because there is no way to select no bullets!

Sling is a decent functional repro, but the male part of the snap was severely bent over like someone had stepped on it. The ziploc baggie was undamaged as was the mailing envelope, so the damage probably happened before it was shipped. I straightened it out well enough to work more or less with pliers, but it's still mashed looking. Wasn't worth the hassle and expense of trying to return it, but it's disappointing that whoever picked and packed it was so careless as to not see such obvious damage. While I'm at it, I'll mention that CTD has never given me the unspecified "free gift" they promised when I signed up.
