The SureFire high capacity magazine for 5.56x45 mm (.223 Remington) ammunition is compatible with M-4, M-16 and AR15 variants and other firearms that accept STANAG 4179 (standard M16) magazines. Constructed from Mil-Spec hard-anodized aluminum, they feed smoothly and reliably due to optimal geometry, non-binding coil springs, and ingenious nesting polymer followers. The long-lasting springs are cadmium coated for low friction and excellent corrosion resistance. Magazines require no lubricants and can be easily disassembled without tools for cleaning.
SureFire High capacity magazines provide distinct tactical advantages: increased initial firepower in ambush situations; fewer reloads overall, which means less downtime and target distraction in a firefight; fast and easy magazine insertion, even with a closed bolt; less bulk compared to drum mags, enabling a normal weapon grip.
The SureFire 100 round magazine is slightly thinner than two 30 round magazines clipped together and is about the same overall length. The SureFire 100 round magazine fits in most dual magazine pouches, eliminating special carry pouches required for drum magazines.

For people that are having problems with the Surefire mags, or if you are debating buying either the 100 or 60 rounder, do not load these mags when you first get them. The general rule of having a working firearm is cleaning AND lubrication and safety. I had issues with a couple of my mags when I fist got them (rounds loose, hard to load, etc.). What can happen when you load DRY, live ammo into a DRY magazine? SCRATCHES, and they can get bigger over time the more you load the mag, regardless of brand. Learn how to disassemble your mags. If your mag does not work, your gun won't work. Spray some WD-40 or other gun oil into the top of the mag, let it soak for a bit, take a rag and spray some oil onto it and roll some rounds on the rag where you sprayed the oil. Load your mag, KEEP SAFETY ON. Cycle the rounds until the mag is empty. You are repeatedly pulling the charging handle, so you may have a few rounds that get slightly stuck, a little extra force to pull the handle is needed for those, those rounds may have slight burs on the neck and it's better to find those now than to have a failure to extract later when at the range. Since using these tricks, I have not had a single problem with my mags. I still hear the slight jumble of rounds in a couple of the mags I own. I have 3 of each, but no FTF or FTE. I have put more than 5,000 rounds through my mags and I will buy more. Regardless of brand, there are always going to be lemons here and there. I am VERY HAPPY with my purchase. Hope this info helps. Be safe and HAVE FUN!

I took this mag out and fired it with a bumpfire stock and it functioned great. Nice stream of brass with no hiccups, hangups, or malfunctions. I am loving the 60 rounder, too.

Swing and a miss. I really wanted to like these mags as the bulk of a beta makes for storage issues for me. The nested follower system tilts and binds at all stages of operation. Even with a slow break in. Also after disassembly, tlc, and proper reassembly the mag was not even worth the trouble for plinking. DON'T be fooled by anyone from surefire spewing nonsense about the followers only tilting when objects other than ammunition are used to depress the follower (fingers). The antitilt engineering is off. The coil springs don't bind, but the follower system sure does. I am constantly forced to turn the mag upside down to pour the loose rounds out before a few hard raps to get the follower to release. Sometimes the waterfall of loose rounds has to be followed by total disassembly to correct. I don't believe mine is a lemon as a quick search will result in plenty of identical issues. If you need capacity , stick with the brand name beta's. This thing's on par with a KCI beta.
