Known for their true craftsmanship, KA-BAR has designed a knife for law enforcement personnel. Worn on the belt for quick deployment, this knife allows the officer to protect themselves from the perpetrator. In extreme close quarters encounters the TDI knife is available as a last option. When worn on the pant belt the entire knife and sheath is well concealed. Friction sheath so the knife draws like a pistol from a holster.

KA-BAR TDI Law Enforcement Serrated Knife -
In extreme close quarters encounters where a suspect is attempting to take an officer's handgun, or an officer cannot access his handgun, the TDI knife is available as a "last option" knife. When worn on the pant belt the entire unit - knife and sheath - is well concealed. Knife is designed by John Benner, founder and owner of Tactical Defense Institute.

Drop Point Blade -
This blade has a gentle, sloping convex curve to the point versus the concave curve of the clip blade. Being thicker, this blade point is stronger for heavier tasks. It stands up to abuse well, but isn't as effective for easy penetration.

Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.

AUS 8 -
A Japanese made medium carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.

Zytel -
A glass filled nylon material used in making handles for knives. DuPont trademark.

SORRY ALL, BUT I CALL IT LIKE I SEE IT. RECEIVED MY KNIFE ON 01/10/09 ( DBA-814-SERRATED )TO CARRY ON MY GUN BELT. KNIFE WAS NOT SHARP IN FACT IT WAS FOUND TO BE VERY DULL AND WOULD NOT CUT ANYTHING. I HAVE CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WILL BE SENDING THIS ONE BACK.

Possibly the most useful, handy knife I've ever purchased. Bought it as an alternative/backup to carrying a handgun for my concealed carry permit. Great for trips to the beach, meals, and other places that carrying a gunbelt would be difficult or unappropriate. Knife is very light and slim, easy to conceal, yet feels very solid and reliable in the hands. As a former US Marine, I find the KA-BAR logo is reassuring as well; this thing just begs to be held, carried, and used. Would very strongly recommend to anyone looking for a small but reliable blade, and I will probably be purchasing a few more for family members.

This knife would be really great for it's intended purpose, but I really wouldn't recommend it for everyday use. I had one embarrassing incident in which I got a bad cut into my small finger when drawing it, because my hands wrapped too far down naturally. Also, when putting it away, be sure it goes ALL the way into the sheath (face it the right way and give it a little muscle) because it can fall out when you're running.
