KA-BAR TDI Law Enforcement Serrated Knife -
In extreme close quarters encounters where a suspect is attempting to take an officer's handgun, or an officer cannot access his handgun, the TDI knife is available as a "last option" knife. When worn on the pant belt the entire unit - knife and sheath - is well concealed. Knife is designed by John Benner, founder and owner of Tactical Defense Institute.
Drop Point Blade -
This blade has a gentle, sloping convex curve to the point versus the concave curve of the clip blade. Being thicker, this blade point is stronger for heavier tasks. It stands up to abuse well, but isn't as effective for easy penetration.
Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.
AUS 8 -
A Japanese made medium carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.
