Built to be abused. Heavy, rugged and very functional. 13.5" overall with sure grip rubber handle over full tang. 3/16" Thick 8" blade of 440 stainless steel with black textured coating and sturdy guard. I bought the Bolo blade rough use knife. I tried using it to chop and was not very happy with it. I then worked the blade and thined out the edge and the knife kicks butt know. For the money it is a good buy. Wish it was made in the USA.

This is an excellent knife. I am sorry that they have chosen to discontinue it. I purchased 2 of them & they have done everything that I had asked of them. Came back to buy more & suffered the disappointment of not being here. Hope they are brought back soon.

I got one of these a while back and did some test chopping, and initially wasn't terribly impressed. Brought it inside, looked at it, and decided to thin the edge a bit--this took a while, but it was slicing paper nicely when I was done. Finally got to test it some more recently, alongside my Becker BK-2 and it held its own chopping a section of southern live oak. No chipping or rolling visible. The BK-2 is .25" thick and this knife is a bit thinner than that--3/16", maybe? Still plenty thick. I'm planning to try it out on the seemingly petrified pecan I was chopping yesterday and compare it again with the BK-2, which had little trouble with it. My hatchet, on the other hand, kept bouncing off unless I hit it at quite an angle. The sheath--definitely cheap. The knife slided up and down in it, even with the retention strap snapped. I saw a video on youtube where a guy wrapped his with a piece of bicycle innner tube and duct tape and retention was much improved, so I may try something along those lines at some point. 1 bullet off for that. I'd make it half a bullet off if that was an option. One more thing--could someone please explain to me why people think that throwing a big, heavy knife that isn't specifically designed to be thrown seems like a good idea? And why they then rate it down when it breaks/fails? People, if you want a throwing knife, buy a throwing knife. Cold Steel makes some. I reviewed this knife a while back titled "broke with in 15 seconds". I received a bad knife I guess. The replacement they sent me (which cost me nothing by the way) has been great! I've had it for a while now. I take it ginseng hunting and abuse the crap out of it. I chop roots that are in the way, briars and all kinds of things. I left the factory edge on it since I'm not known for my knife sharpening skills. It still cuts through paracord like its nothing even with the factory edge. It's a great companion to my cold steel kukri magnum machete.

Fun Fact: arrived sharp enough to shave hair. Obviously not the fanciest blade ever, but for $$ bucks, its a bargain.
