Built to be abused. Heavy, rugged and very functional. 13.5" overall with sure grip rubber handle over full tang. 3/16" Thick 8" blade of 440 stainless steel with black textured coating and sturdy guard. Stiff lined nylon belt sheath, also see below other blade designs to select from.

Came out of the box with the handle loose, barely attached. The sheath wasn't even close to a proper fit, and on top of that the blade wasn't even slightly sharp. Maybe I just received a fluke bad one, I expected much more after reading the other reviews.

Good knife, 440 stainless steel. Comes with leather sheath and a concrete sharpener(useless). Good finish, does not come off easy even when sharpening.

I initially reviewed this knife back on 10/6/2009, and my opinion has changed considerably since then. First of all, this steel is a lot tougher than I originally thought. It turns out I was putting a much finer edge on the blade than I'm used to, causing rapid wear. I thought the steel was soft, and this just isn't the case. I still feel that the factory handle is of very poor quality and prone to shattering, and the short tang is a definite drawback. However, I refused to scrap it, so I welded a new handle out of some mild steel, then welded it onto the partial tang. I finished by wrapping the new handle with paracord, and it looks darn good. It is definitely heavier than before, but balances much better in my opinion. Best of all, I'm splitting wood with no trouble at all, with no concern about shattering the grip. I simply place the knife long ways atop a small log and pound it through using the flat of my axe. I can't stress enough how tough this thing is. I split a small wheelbarrow load of firewood this evening without any real sign of wear on the spine other than some chipping of the factory coating and slight deformation...far less than I would expect from pounding away on it with a 4lb steel axe. If you have the means to improve the grip, buy one and do so. You won't regret it.
