Finally we found an affordable water filter with the filtration ability of high end counter top models and the portability of small backpack models. Our High Country water filter weighs only 1.75 lbs and rolls up to 14" long X 4" diameter but holds up to 3 gallons when in use. Included are two ceramic mini- filters with pre-filter socks encased in a protective plastic cage with spigot, rubberized nylon carry bag with straps, 3-1/2 feet of clear vynil tubing with a small pictorial instruction card that displays the ultra simple operation of the filter bag and it's components. Good for hundred of gallons and easily cleaned. Bag measures 17" by 14" before filling.

Colors vary, no choice.

To maximize flow rate of the bag, allow the drain tube to fill up with water, and then place the tube into some filtered water. The weight of the water in the tube will create a siphon and pull the water through the filters faster at a rate up to 10 gallons per hour. Filters are manufactured to meet:

Just got mine today and it is bright yellow!. So I guess the description should say color may vary. Bright Yellow would not be good for hunting, but since I bought mine for emergency use, it's fine. I would suggest if you want a certain color make sure you ask.

The only reasons I gave this 4 instead of 5 bullets is because of the bad description of it. For one, it does not come in camo as the picture shows and two, it does not filter 10 gallons of water per hour. Otherwise, this is a great purchase. To set the record straight, it is dark blue in color (like it really matters) like the previous reviewer stated. Also, it filters one gallon in about 25 minutes. I tested it as soon as I got it. My only other complaints are that there is no shut-off or valve clamp for the tubing so once you pour your dirty water in the top, you need to have your water containers set up just before hand. You'll have about 5 minutes before the water starts filtering through it to get set up or you'll have to rig the tubing with a clamp or rubberband it off high up on the tubing. And unless CTD has started selling a replacement filter since I ordered it, you'll eventually have to try and find a new filter once the old one wears out. But bottom line here folks...I feel this is worth the money. I do a lot of river and creek-side camping and canoeing so this will come in totally handy when me and the gang do a weekend run. This will be a hell of a lot easier to tote along than our usual 5 gallon jerry container that takes up a lot of space and weight on a canoe.

Overall very pleased. Drank filtered stream h2o from this system for 2 days with no complications at 2500+ feet elevation. Shipping was fast. Mine did not come as pictured as camouflage bag, but as a dark navy blue. (Still at least it's not a game scaring shiny bag) Only major problem was that there was no hose flow clip in the package to stop the flow of water. A little improvising was needed to stop the constant drip. That was likely a factory oversight. Item folds into a tight light package with built in straps to wrap it up. Great piece of gear.
