Don't use it inside (unless you intend to burn down your house). A great addition to any camping/survival kit.

This thing is impressive, shooting sparks that keep on burning- like the package says: "do not use Blastmatch on anything you don't want to burn" it's almost scary! But anyhow, I see this as an unbeatable survival tool, spitting incendiary sparks at my hapless tinder. I'm very glad I finally bought this product!

I agree with Chris. Cooker300 probably just didn't know what to expect. It is supposed to be somewhat loose (when opened) so it has freedom of travel. When pressure is applied to the striker and you push it down, it shoots the sparks out. Like many survival items, one should practice with it before you actually need it.

Another reviewer states that this is poorly made and very loose. While the steel IS loose inside, I think he is not holding it right. You need to have your thumb on the tab at the top to press the flint against the steel while you are striking it. I ordered two and tried them both out on the garage floor as soon as they got here, and they put out, I tell you what. It's as if a mini-welder is going to town throwing sparks. If you need fire RIGHT NOW, you won't be disappointed. This thing kicks a cheetah's arse.
