I wasn't expecting much for this price, but I'm amazed at the quality of this compass. It's very sturdy and has a very cool site finder at the base of the compass. Very nice!

This is a great quality compass. Like others have said yes its made in china but, what isn't these days? Its got a full metal housing, a tripod mount, and a glow in the dark ring around the main part of the compass and a glow in the dark north indicator. Given a proper light source to charge from the glow is more than substantial enough to navigate at night with. Very glad i bought this compass instead of it's 80 dollar counterpart.

I bought this compass as a good quality compass for the go bag, just in case I ever had to get out of dodge by foot and needed navigation. For the money its one of the highest quality compasses I've ever encountered. I will be ordering more for the hunting bag and just cause quality like this, for this price, is rare to find these days. To the earlier reviewer and for all those thinking of purchasing, the "thumb screw" is actually a peep which you can use when sighting landmarks to get an exact heading instead of having to use the sight and then lower the compass to look at the dial. Made in China, but still an excellent product.

NICE compass...too bad its made in CHINA! Surprisingly, nice quality. BTW...the thumbscrew is a sight glass. Look though it for a close up of bezel.

I've had my compass for a couple weeks now and from the day I opened the box I was impressed. What was a complete surprise was the screw mounting hole on the bottom for a tripod. Seeing that feature I searched the Internet for a Brand Name compass and what I found floored me. The only one which matched this compass feature for feature was one made in Germany and cost $174.00! So the $14.97 I spent for this is undoubtedly the best money I've ever spent. I've got to get another with my next order.

I just recieved mine last night. This things built like a brick house. I am very surprised. The compass is as dead on as my Silva Ranger. I'm going to order another one to give to my 12yr old son as his 1st beater compass. It is more sturdy that a plastic baseplate Silva for rough housing in the woods. Maybe, in the long run, it may fail, but I'm from the school where quality is felt in the hand. It is solid and has weight. It just feels like a tool. The sight peep is nice and the bezel is smooth, but not too smooth. I wish the bezel was a little more protection from accidental moving when its closed, but otherwise im ordering a 2nd as we speak.

This is what it says it is. No self containing night capabilities. for this price its the best compass your gonna get. The bubble level is awesome it helps allot in getting a true reading. There is no sighting wire, it uses a more "fail safe" system of see through plastic. The sighting system is unique and works very well. The bezel ring is well constructed and glides easily. A little heavy but this is a item you want a little heavy. The only thing that sux is the thumb ring is useless, you have to grab the sides but no big deal. this replaces my old compass with out a doubt. Buy it you wont regret it.
