First of all, if this flexes so badly you have to use a hammer on the barrel nut, I would bet there are other issues. That being said, this thing does what it says. It holds the upper stationary so you can work on it (no cleaning rods though). It fits completely into upper, all the way up to the gas tube. Before this, changing muzzle devices meant a strong vice with soft jaw covers. Not an issue any more. I believe the others who have changed out barrels are probably right - this should be just the ticket. CTD ships fast, no doubt. 5 bullets means perfection, so I can't say that yet.

Fits tight as crap with my Vltor upper. Had to use a small hammer to get the pins in. No movement whatsoever. Fit like a glove with my S&W M&P15. Snug fit, no movement. Pins slid right into place. That's why I gave four bullets. CTD's shipping is crazy! I received my order two days after payment. Thanks CTD!

This clamp claw thingy-ma-jig is perfect. I swapped out a 20 inch Bull barrel without incident. Had no trouble at all and held tight. I would rate this at the top of the needed tools for the AR 15 or M4. It works with carry handle on or off and with scope on or off. Great handy dandy item and if you use it once, it's paid for in savings that you would have otherwise spent at the gunsmith. Plus, you get the satisfaction of having done the job to your satisfaction and will have it for any other future needs. She's a keeper.

Fits great in my Spikes Tactical Upper. Snug fit, no movement, pins slid right into place. If you are intalling a barrel, or just need to keep your upper stationary this is a great deal!

Got this in the mail today, fit my upper fairly tightly, but still had some play in it. I went to take my barrel nut off, and this thing just kept bending, and flexing my upper. I thought I was for sure going to break the upper, but it just reamed out the pin holes on this tool. 2 bullets, just because I did eventually get the barrel nut off (with a hammer, not a wrench). Invest in something else, unless you just need it for the compensator...

I just got this item today and went to install a YHM free float quad rail onto my Colt. Right out of the package one of the pull rings on the anchor pins was sprung pretty bad (that didnt bother me that much though). But, when I went to install the upper into the block I found that neither pin would fit into the front take down pin hole on the gun. All holes lined up just fine, the pins were just too big. I ended up having to use a large pin punch to anchor the upper into the block in order to complete the task. Not the kind of quality control I would expect from simple tool that costs that much!

I have the "clamshell" type and would always have to take off scopes and other optics to do barrel work, not anymore!! This tool allows users to leave their optics and other gadgets on their uppers while doing barrel or other work. If you have a colt/RRA style 9mm upper with the plastic gas/case deflector, get this, you'll be glad you did!! A worthwhile addition to your set of tools. I should have purchased one years ago.

I got this for my Bushmaster AR15, but, the pins are to big to fit all the way into the upper but they do fit in just enough to get the job done. I was happy with the buy and it got the job done, so I cant complain :D

This is a great tool for the price, and much easier and more versatile than my upper receiver action block. I have not broken the Claw or an upper yet, so it must work. I have not found better tools for this application for several times the price.

This is a must have tool. Keeps your upper nice and secure for barrel and forearm work. I can't immagine trying to tear down or assemble an AR without it.I give it four bullets because I think it could be just a bit snugger on the takedown pins.
