The Extended Forend gives you a ton of rail space for accessories and hand hold space. Includes barrel nut.

Where to begin... plan on milling at least one extra slot and making another pin to stabilize the tube. The two they have allow it to flop up and down. I ended up turning a bushing and tapping it in the business end. No other way I could see to hold it well enough to have any hope of keeping a set on a sight. Everything involved is VERY light weight. Have to eat this one since I altered it. Maybe I'll cut it down and use a stock front sight.

1.0 Rating It's a risk... - 10/14/2010

I bought this item with full intention to use it on my rifle. It's true what they say, "you get what you pay for." Its made of aluminum. This forearm consist of mainly 4 pieces: The forearm itself, the forearm ride-on piece, the barrel nut and the barrel nut sleeve. The forearm and ride-on piece is fastened together with 3 allen head screws and is not flushed correctly. So when you tighten the complete forearm to the barrel nut, it is always crooked no matter how many ways and techniques you use to re-tightened to angle the arm. Your front sight will always be off because of this. Just like the other post, I have to bite this on too.

1.0 Rating Don't - 10/24/2010

If it worked, it would have been great. The price is right, finish and quality is good. All that being said, if it's not solid it's not worth having. No matter how much torque I put on the jam nut, I still had movement in the forearm. Nearly a 1/4 of an inch. They need to rethink this system and make it solid. In it current configuration its a POS.

2.0 Rating NEEDS SMITHING - 4/19/2011

THIS IS AN UPDATE!! I recomend milling another 2 slots and turning 2 more pins for any hope of holding this one in place. And if you are good enough to get all the work indexed PERFECT it doesen't take much of a hit to loose the set on the sight. I ended up turning and blacking a bushing for the business end that fit the barrel and rail with no slop then drilled, tapped and screwed the bushing to the rail. It is no longer a free float but I didn't have to throw it in the scrap pile. When I get some time to play with it more I think I will remove the bushing, reinstall the factory front sight and slot the rail around the sight. But in the end, even with the extra pins in the receiver end if it takes a hit it will loose alignment without a bushing in the business end. With the time I have in it now I could have started with a $400.00 rail and been way ahead!!!!
