The Vltor Modular Upper Receiver or MUR is forged out of 7075 aircraft grade aluminum that has been stress relieved, heat treated, and then cryogenically treated. This, along with the thicker walls of the receiver, makes the MUR stronger and more rigid than a standard billet flat-top upper, and with the forward assist deleted it weighs in at only 8 ounces. Including the forward assist it weighs slightly more at 10 ounces. The greater strength and rigidity of the MUR gives the shooter a more accurate and reliable platform while reducing wear and tear on the bolt carrier. Available with or without a forward assist.

Haven't shot the gun since install, but I'll tell ya, it's very clean. There is a slight gap with my S&W M&P15 lower, but it's OK. With the gas block, gas tube, etc. installed, it looks beautiful. Want a new upper receiver? Go with VLTOR and you'll be happy. Thanks for the very fast shipping from CTD :-) Another happy customer.

I was skeptical at first about the other reviews and this upper looks and performs great. No problem fitting to my spike's tactical lower. Has a sleek look that's different from other uppers. Considering buying another for my next build.

Received my upper on Tuesday afternoon. Took a bit of work to get the front takedown in, tight fit. Took all the slop out of my s&w m&p. Might be able to close the upper and lower with a sheet of rice paper in between them, would take some force to do it, though. The finish is where it loses 2%, close but discernible difference between oem and it. Love it! Going to order another for my varmint gun build.

This is the best upper I've ever bought. Machine quality is excellent. Fit in a smith and wesson M&P 15 lower like it was from the factory that way. Slid in with no resistance and absolutely no play when the breakdown pins are inserted. Will without a doubt buy again when building my next AR.
