Purchased for Bushmaster AR-15. When placed on the half inch part of a 16 inch barrel the bayonet (M7) ends up .4 inches back from the front of a traditional birdcage flash guard. However, I did have to grind off at least a sixteenth inch of the surface that ends up against the barrel, this in order to have the lug as far forward as possible and not have the lug cocked at an angle. If you want the bayonet nearer the front, you will need the 3/4 inch lug.

Used this adapter to add a bayonet lug to my Mini 14 & Kel-Tec SU 16. You must also add a flash suppressor to these rifles so they it will accept an M7 or M9 bayonet. This adapter fits the barrel of each rifle perfectly & is rock solid !! Easily installed add on aftermarket suppressors are available for the Mini 14, but the Kel-Tec SU16 required some machining modifications to the aluminum front sight base & a 1/2-28 threaded flash suppressor. Buy one -- you'll like it !!

I got this today and was thrilled. i also have an ar-15/M4 so the barrel is sixteen inches. so my stock bayonet lug made the bayonet ring sit in the middle of the barrel. i got this and put it on the pre-cut groove on my barrel(only place it fits) and now the bayonet sits almost to the end of the FS. closer than before but not as happy. not bad though.

I picked one of these up for my Colt...it's the one similiar to the M4 but with a 16" barrel...that meant the bayonet lug was too far back. I mounted it and now I can easily mount a bayonet. Decent...I'd like to pick up another one or two and mount them on other firearms that have had birdcage flash suppressors added.
