1.0 Rating Don't buy this ammunition - 8/11/2008
Reviewer: DrC
I bought 500 rounds to break in my new Springfield Armory Garand. The first 100 rounds or so functioned flawlessly. However in one box I had two casings that would not eject after discharge and to be removed with a cleaning rod. The spent primers bulged in both indicating dangerously high pressures. I took another box and pulled the bullets to weigh the powder. The weights varied as much as 4 grains! However the really disturbing finding was that two cartridges were loaded with a different powder but within the same weight range. I have to assume that some of the cartridges are loaded with the wrong powder, accounting for the dangerously high chamber pressure. I am not going to shoot any more of this ammo, as I consider it unsafe. The saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply here. Cheap should still be assumed to be safe, especially if sold by a reputable distributor. CTD is however to be commended for providing the opportunity for me to voice my concerns.

1.0 Rating USE WITH CAUTION - 9/10/2008
Reviewer: CCC
I bought a case and was doing fine with my Garand, until I had two spent brass stick in the chamber which required gentle extraction with a cleaning rod. Both had bulging primers, indicative of excessive chamber pressure. I pulled several bullets and weighed the powders. The weights varied by 10% or more, and I encountered different powders. I won't be shooting this ammo anymore.

1.0 Rating Bad Ammo - 9/22/2008
Reviewer: RemRange742
This ammo is cheap, but that is all. In one box of ammo I had one misfire and one round pop the primer out of the case, causing the round to damage the gun and jam the action shut. Now my gun needs to go to the gunsmith so that the damage to the chamber can (hopefully) be repaired. Be careful with this ammo.

1.0 Rating Blown Primer, Duds - 10/13/2008
Reviewer: Mike from WV
I bought 200 rds about 3 weeks ago. Finally got a chance to try it out. Rifle: Springfield "US Rifle, Cal .30, M1" obtained from the CMP in the early 1990s. I have used US Lake City, Korean, Greek, and Austrian versions of "M2-Ball", as well as Winchester white box and Federal American Eagle, all without incident. I load it, pull the trigger, it goes bang, and a hole appears in the target near the point of aim. Which brings us to this stuff. It's cheap. I loaded a clip. First three rounds fire just fine. Third round had a pierced primer. Fourth and fifth rounds failed to fire. The primer was dimpled, but no bang. I dumped the rest, and tried some Lake City. No problems there ... The primers from the first three rounds were flattened. Time to drag out the calipers and the OAL gauge. Caveat Emptor.
