Federal American Eagle is a great value in ammunition. This example in .30-06 Springfield simulates the military M2 round, which the M1 Garand was designed for. It pushes a 150 Grain Full Metal Jacket to 2740 fps.

4.0 Rating Great Stuff - 4/11/2010

This ammo is great stuff! It comes at a high price, especially with more M2 Ball ammo coming onto the market this year at about several cents a round. Shoots very well, and the head stamp is pretty nifty too. If you can't get a hold of surplus, stock up on this!

4.0 Rating Good Garand Match Ammo - 4/21/2010
Reviewer: DangerDan
I bought a couple of boxes of this for a CMP John C. Garand match, and I have to say the ammunition functioned flawlessly. It was very windy the day of the match, so it's hard to say exactly how accurate it was, but I placed third, so it can't be that bad! This stuff is the traditional flat tip spitzer round you'll find on all mil-surp Garand ammo. The best thing about this ammunition is that it is loaded specifically for Garand rifles. Other .30-06 ammunition can be hard on the op-rod on these rifles, but I had no problems at all with this stuff, while a competitor shooting regular .30-06 ammunition had the op-rod on his rifle completely seize up in the middle of a string of fire. Four bullets, only because I can't tell how consistent this ammunition is. I'll post an updated review later once I've had the chance to measure the accuracy from a bench.

5.0 Rating My M1 Garand Loves This Ammo - 6/5/2010
Reviewer: Marine Combat Engineer
Very high quality ammo for our trusty M1 Garands. Very accurate, I was getting 2 to 3 inch groups at 100 yards with my M1 Garand - that is not with a bench rest, just a hasty support sling. Cycled very well although I did have a few failure to feeds, but that is very likely due to new clips that are really tight. All in all very good stuff. More expensive than surplus, but you can trust that this stuff will not blow up your gun like some surplus ammo can do. Will be shooting this exclusively in my Garand!

4.0 Rating Misfeed - 10/7/2011
Reviewer: Rey
Had 4 boxes of this ammo go through my M-1 Garand. Had 5 misfeeds where the bullet tip jammed against the metal just below the lip of the chamber while the bolt was moving forward. Easy to clear by pulling the operating rod back and lifting the round out of the way and was able to continue shooting. But it is annoying. My rifle is kept clean and properly lubed as per the manual. I have also been firing surplus Greek manufactured rounds, 30-06 150gr FMJ M2 Ball ammo. Comparing the American Eagle to the surplus rounds, I noticed the surplus had a more pointed tip on the bullet, as opposed to the American Eagle round which was slightly more blunted. Also noticed the surplus round was approximately 2 mm longer. Maybe not a big deal overall, maybe just a quirk of my particular rifle, but those are my experiences and observations.

4.0 Rating Good Ammo - 10/11/2013
Reviewer: Tman
This is good 30.06 ammo. Its designed to the specifications of the old military-grade M2 ball 30.06 ammo so that it is safe to use in an M1 Garand rifle. Many shooters know that modern 30.06 ammo can be harmful to the M1's gas system with higher pressures leading to bent op-rods and other damage. The American Eagle ammo is generally reliable and a decent alternative to M2 surplus ammo. Both have about the same level of reliability... Last time I shot the Federal ammo, I had 2 misfires out of about 40 rounds. Its also a little more pricey.
