Update... Just shot 1000 rounds of this stuff in a patrol rifle (AR-15) class. Not a single malfunction of any type. Every single round chambered, fired, extracted and ejected with ease. Accuracy was outstanding. We were required to make head shots (in the small "credit card" scoring area) at 25 yds and hit steel man-sized targets out to 300 yds (all done with back-up iron sights). The ammo had all the accuracy needed for both tasks. All I can say on the negative is that I had 3 flyers I know were not operator error that opened a group up to about 4" during the class. I can live with the 3 flyers out of 1000 in a training situation for the huge savings over brass cased ammo.
A Pleasant Surprise

This was my 1st batch of Brown Bear. I got 500 rds, just to see if it would be at even the low end of acceptable for training. Due to past horror stories about foreign steel cased ammo, I hand inspected every round. Not a single dent, blemish, high primer, etc.. So far so good. Off to the range. I selected a genuine Colt 16.1" AR pattern rifle that I know to be Sub-MOA if the ammo and I each do our part. I was limited to our 25Yd pistol range, but it was all I could get on at the time. I fired a 3 shot string and grabbed my binos to see how it did. I was surprised to see one ragged hole (Only 25Yds, but seeing how I had the initial impression most of this "cheap" foreign ammo shoots around corners, I was happy). I shot another string and got the same results. I next loaded some read deal LC M193 and fired a 3 shot string to see if the point of impact would differ from the Bear brand. The M193 shot to the same point of impact as Bear. I next loaded up 90 rds of it in some off brand 30 rd magazines (wanted to give the the Brown Bear "every opportunity to fail"). I fired at varied rates until 90 rds were gone. Not a single hiccup of any type. I don't have the qualifications to speak to the claims that mild steel cases are "bad" for a rifle, but I don't see how mild steel acting against a good old AMERICAN made Colt chrome lined chamber will do a lot to the service life. I would do some additional research about long term storage of steel cased ammo if you plan to sock tons of this stuff away for a possible Zombie Apocalypse or similar cataclysmic event. I am a "Buy American" person whenever practical/affordable, so if you have a pot of gold under the bed, please buy the WCC, FC or other good old American name brand ammo and shoot a lot of it often. For us who have a limited ammo budget and want a cartridge that duplicates the performance of the M193, Brown Bear will work just fine.
