Replacement foregrip for the AK-47 rifle with Picantinny top and bottom MIL-STD 1913 rails and dual accessory side mounts for lights or lasers, ventilated for cooling and high impact resin for durability, easy to install without tools. Specifically designed and manufactured to provide a rigid ultra-light platform on which to mount virtually any mission specific accessory.

The Upper piece is 4 3/8" long, the lower piece is 6 1/2" long and both are 1 11/16" wide. Side rails each measure 2.5" long. Total unit weight is 6.4 ounces.

Installation was a piece of cake, compared to the Mako buttstock I purchased for the same weapon. I took a little material off the ends and they fit like a glove. Great component for the money.

Fine add-on to my Romanian AK. Bottom hand guard fell right on, top was a little tight but fit nice and snug with very little sanding. It's not the Mako item that doesn't fit, it's the wood grips on the imported AKs that are not to spec. Love this hand guard!

Looks good on my AK pistol. Took quite a bit of modifying with my dremel to get this to fit on. Then I had to pound it on with a hammer, which scratched my receiver and barrel. You definitely need tools to install this!!!!!! Also, the top piece doesn't fit on the AK pistol either.

I gave this two bullets for several reasons. I wanted to put this on my WASR 10/63. The bottom went on fairly easily. It came in a rather odd shape, it looked perhaps bent inward from having weight on it during manufacture or shipping. Once I stretched it out it and hammered on it a little bit, it went on very tightly. The top however is a different story. First, the side rails have to be attached to the top handguard, they don't come that way. The screws they give you are extremely short. Only one or two threads go into the nuts that hold the side rails on. This looks really flimsy to me. On top of that, two of the screws stripped during installation when I accidentally overtightened them. I had to carve out the inside of the handguard with a dremel so the screws would go farther into the nuts. Second, I had to hammer and pry the gas tube for two hours to get the top handguard to fit. Someone with less experience may have accidentally destroyed the gas tube, handguard, or both. They are attractive, functional, and fit tightly, but I cannot recommend them to anyone with a WASR 10/63.

I gave product four stars for two reasons: First and foremost No instructions. I’m new to AKM firearms; the twist off and on of the top hand-guard threw me. I found instructions using Google but it would be very easy for Mako to include a picture or two showing removal and install procedures. Secondly both the top and bottom pieces required minor fitting. I see this as a non-issue given the high number AKM manufactures and the potential differences in fit and finish. I would much rather need to remove a little material than have a loose fitting hand-guard. Overall this is a typical high quality product that Mako is known for. I most definitely recommend this product to anyone wishing to customize their AKM.
