Took a chance on this. Not a bad item. Comes folded up and is spring loaded in the handle with a lock nut that screws up to put tension on the head and handle. Can adjust the head, so it's just the pick or a pick/shovel combo. Materials seem sturdy enough. Not sure I'd actually want to trench in anything other than finely tilled potting soil though, as there are aluminum components on this thing. I would use it more as a winter emergency shovel if anything. Ordered two. One worked fine; the other had a nut that wouldn't screw all the way on. Customer service was prompt and sent me a replacement shovel at no extra cost. Customer service tends to bump this up to 4 shells for me, otherwise a solid 3 for sure.
