This hand guard is a 2 piece design with upper and lower heat shields for maximum cooling. Designed and engineered to accommodate gas piston or direct gas impingement systems. For carbine-length AR15/M16 Rifles. Purpose built ergonomic hand grip area with hand stop and heavy texture. Proprietary formula of heat stabilized nylon reinforced with high strength fibers. 1/2 the weight of aluminum hand guards. Modular design will accommodate Mil-Spec rail systems for a truly customized weapon system. OD Green color matched with Magpul products for a seamless match between parts.

Now that I've mounted this piece, along with the Magpul buttstock. I can say the color difference previously mentioned is hardly noticeable. By the way, the Magpul piece is a little darker. Mounted this on a railed flattop, and the rail of the forend sits higher than the receiver. To sum up, it looks good, it feels good, and if you don't mind the rail issue, I highly recommend it. If the rails had matched, I'd have rated it a 5. As is, I averaged my score to 3.5.

Just received this with a Magpul buttstock. Lying side by side, the color match isn't quite perfect. I don't think it will be noticeable once they're mounted. As far as the forend itself, it looks and feels like a quality piece. I'll update once it's mounted.
