I've shot many brands or rounds through my .270 and Hornadys are hands down the tightest group. Last Saturday , I got next years buck tag by shooting a doe at 351 yards asross a wide vally through a cold bore (16 degrees) and dropped her in her tracks. no exit wound, the kill zone was jelly. great bullet

this ammo is great and extremely accurate. its my first year to shoot this brand of ammo and i am impressed to say the least[and i'm not easy to impress] with the performance of this 130 grain sst. shot a 180 pound whitetail at 216 yards[my longest shot to date] with a complete passthrough and destruction of both lungs. from where the deer was standing in a dirt road, blew pieces of lungs at least 30 feet the other side of the deer. WOW!! i wrote a review earlier this year for another brand of ammo, and it's good quality ammo, but it can't hold a candle to this hornady sst. would highly recommend this to anyone.

It is the only bullet that works with my rig. Less than 0ne inch groups at 200mts. Hunted Elk, Bear, Antelope, Deer and Orix. One shot per animal.

5.0 Rating Accurate and Deadly - 4/15/2009
Reviewer: plains hunter
When I purchased my Savage rifle in .270 a few years ago, I tested it with about 6 different loads and the Hornady 130 gr. SSTs was easily the most accurate; reliably printing sub one-inch groups at 100 yds. I have harvested 3 anumals with it and all were one-shot stops; 2 mule deer (at 181 yds and 215 yds), and one pronghorn at 160 yds. In the case of one of the mulies and the pronghorn, the animals dropped in their tracks with complete bullet pass through. The other mulie was shot just behind the kill zone and ran 30 yds before dropping (it was an offhand shot)--no exit wound, just two broken ribs and a disintegrated bullet .

5.0 Rating most accurate ammo - 11/6/2010
Reviewer: gun fan
I’ve tried at least a dozen different types of ammo in my Remington 710 including some of my own reloads which were admittedly failures in the accuracy department. This ammunition is more accurate and drops less at 150 yards than any other ammunition I’ve ever used. After I got the scope dialed in for less drop I was putting a hole in a hole from 150 yards and the penetration and expansion in the stack of wet phone books from the same distance was amazing. I’m happier with the expansion from the Winchester Supreme Elite XP3 ballistic tips that I tried at the same time but I’m confident that whatever I shoot with the Hornady will be just as dead as it will be with the Winchester and for 15 bucks less per box. This is the only ammo I will ever use from now on unless I’m shooting for fun in which case I will be reloading.
