||Top quality holster - poor concealment - 5/3/2014|
|Ordered this primarily as an open carry holster after research into it and it's competitors (SERPA, 5.11 Thumbdrive, and similar). I'm very happy with it due to it's heavy duty construction, rugged good looks, and most important, it's automatic locking system which is very secure but quick for the shooter to disengage with a press of the thumb.
For even greater security, Safariland offers an upgrade called ALS Guard, which covers the release and can be disengaged with a forward sweep of the thumb. It also comes with two carry options, a belt slot module and a paddle (I prefer the belt slots). Safariland's snap-on belt clip, available separately, is also compatible.
The only reason I only gave it four stars was it's being advertised as a "concealment" holster. I've tested it as such and even with an x-large straight-hem shirt, it bulges out pretty good and becomes visible even if the hem rides up slightly. Admittedly, if I lived in a colder climate and was able to wear a heavy jacket all the time, it would probably hide okay.
In the end, it's a really nice holster, much higher quality than it's price would suggest, and perfect for open carry use (or concealed in cold weather).|
