These offerings are loaded at standard pressure, but they are much more powerful than normal .38 Special ammunition. These 150 Grain Hard Cast Wad Cutter loads will not harm older more fragile revolvers. So, these loads are safe for use in ANY .38 Special revolvers, provided it is in normal working condition. As stated above, the "Power" level of these loads is really closer to a typical +P power level, but the pressure is standard. We are able to develop these powerful standard pressure loads with modern non-canister powders. Again, these loads recoil far less than Buffalo Bores .38 Special +P ammunition. This load is flash suppressed, so firing it in the dark won't blind you. This load utilizes a very hard cast 150gr. Wad Cutter bullet. The bullet is made hard, so it won't deform or mushroom. It cuts/crushes a "cookie cutter", full diameter hole in human flesh just like it does on a paper target. It penetrates deeply (roughly 14 to 16 inches in human tissue) and its full diameter profile maximizes blood loss as it cuts and crushes (not slips or slides) its way through tissue.

I fired 100 rounds of high quality low-flash lead round nose .38 special standard pressure rounds and then a box of 20 of the Buffalo Bore standard pressure hard cast wadcutter rounds at a local indoor firing range from my Ruger LCR 357 Magnum revolver that has a very short 1.875" barrel. Both types of rounds fired very accurately at distances of 21 feet and 42 feet. Both types of rounds had absolutely no detectable flash at the relatively low light levels at the indoor firing range. The recoil was low and about equal with both types. The wadcutter rounds left perfect "cookie cutter" circles in the thin paper targets. I was so impressed with this Buffalo Bore round, that I purchased four more boxes. This will be my preferred self-defense round.
