The History...
The PPS-43C (Pistolet-Pulemet Sudaeva, model of 1943 = Sudaev SMG) was born as an answer to the need for a weapon that is more compact and mobile than the PPSh-41, then in use by the Soviet Army. The PPSh-41 was somewhat too long to be used by tank crews and mobile recon groups and paratroopers, so late in 1941, the Red Army issued a request for a new more compact sub machine gun (SMG). The designer Sudaev initially designed his new SMG in 1942, and it was adopted under the designation of PPS-42. The next year he refined the design, and this final model was designated as the PPS-43. This model was manufactured in significant numbers (nearly two million PPS-43 weapons were manufactured between 1943 and 1946). The PPS-43 is sometimes referred to as the best SMG of World War II. After WWII, it was widely exported to pro-Soviet regimes around the world, and widely copied.

I.O. Inc. redesigned this historical firearm to shoot from a closed bolt position. The safety is located at the front of the triggerguard. The receiver and barrel shroud are made from stamped steel. The rear sight is an L-shaped flip type and is marked for 100 and 200 meters, the front sight is a fixed blade type. The barrel is equipped with a simple muzzle brake. This firearm is an ATF approved pistol. The stock has no function and is permanently fixed in its folded position.

5.0 Rating Nice firearm - 6/3/2011
Reviewer: collector
Got it today. haven't fired it but have been playing with it and comparing it to a parts kit that's been stored away for awhile. This is a very nice piece that impressed everyone at my FFL's place both from the WWII aspect to the value and quality put in to bringing it to market for us all. They are made from parts of the original weapons and new parts with trigger group and bolt modifications on top of discreet tacking of the stock in place being most of the changes from the parts kits. I have bought from the Cheaperthandirt showroom when I was in town before but this being the first time buying a gun on the web from them I'll testify that they made it a very fast and seamless transaction with a good order monitoring system. Nice firearm!!

5.0 Rating Fabulous Working Collectible - 5/24/2014
Reviewer: Rev. Fr. Christopher Repp, S.T.L.
As a collector this PPS-43C is a gem. Chambered in the 7.62x25 which is a formidable round it really puts the power our there. No jams or FTF's. Just a sweet semi-auto pistol that harkens back to the days of the Giants. It certainly helped the Allies defeat the Nazi's and as we approach the 70th Anniv. of the Invasion of Normandy I am proud to have this as part of my WWII collection. Fun to shoot and it puts those Tokarev's downrange with quite a punch. No wonder the Nazi's ran when the PPS started to shoot!

5.0 Rating Fun to Shoot - 8/5/2011
Reviewer: exphys
I have only had the opportunity to take this to the range once, but I was able to put about 150 rounds through it. It was very fun to shoot, and fired all 150 rounds without any issues. Overall, this seems like a well made firearm.
