||More Jamming and More Problems - 4/11/2014|
|So I've had my Kimber Pro CDP II for about 5 years and here are some things that have never happened to me before: the slide jamming and not returning to the full serviceable position after each round in a full magazine, stove top jam, the slide not locking back when all ammo loaded into magazine has been fired.
I bring this up because EVERY SINGLE ONE happened today when I went to take the Wilson Combat Bullet Proof 1911 .45 ACP Slide Release on its first firing. There had been incidents of periodic jamming with the factory slide stop that I had, but it wasn't more than maybe a 10-15% occurrence. With the Bullet Proof slide stop, that frequency went north of 80%. This Product Greatly reduced the range reliability of my sidearm to the point that I would not trust to use it in a situation where I needed it for personal protection, which is why I bought the gun in the first place. it is possible that the above mentioned malfunctions could be due to the new fit of it and the tightness and it may eventually work itself out, but what if I need the weapon during that break in period? in that instance I might as well shoot the first round and throw the rest of the magazine at them. so if were to keep this product, the price is completely wrong. I would not pay the 60 bucks, but I would take the 1000$ + to be able to buy a gun that I could rely on while my original is "breaking in" the new slide stop. that's right. I would only keep this if I was paid to with funds sufficient to purchase a new gun. or maybe Wilson Combat just doesn't agree with Kimber products. Either way, this slide stop is just complete garbage for my 1911. Highly discourage anyone from wasting their money on this.|
