9x18 makarov Hornady Handgun Cartridge, 95-Grain Critical Defense Bullet, 1050 fps.

Unaffected by thick and heavy clothing, the 95 gr. FTX bullet delivers superior controlled expansion and large, deep wound cavities over a wide range of velocities.

I usually shoot Brown Bear, and Silver Bear. But Silver Bear has poor reviews for expansion. So I purchased some VERY expensive Buffalo Bore, some Hornady Critical Defense and shot against my normal shooting ammo: All shot in my CZ82 at 7 yards outdoors. I was surprised at the difference in smoke. Could not measure the flash, supposedly Buffalo Bore loaded for low flash. Buffalo Bore Jammed 3 rounds out of 10 OK accuracy lots of smoke kick low Hornady Critical Defense zero jams best accuracy of all lowest smoke kick low Silver Bear zero jams 2nd best accuracy of all lowest smoke kick low Brown Bear zero jams 3rd best accuracy of all lots of smoke kick low Tula zero jams 4th best accuracy of all lots of smoke kick highest of group tested Needless to say even one jam is too much for CCW, going with the Hornady Critical Defense 9x18 from now on. The Hornady is a JHP with a plastic insert to maximize expansion.

You always know what you're getting with Hornady, and these are no exception. It's hard to find good quality Makarov defense ammo in my area so I am very please that CTD has this available, especially in the FTX bullet! (my personal preference for defense)
