This does not work unless you really have a sharp knife with super hard steel in the first place. What good is a sharpener that only sharpens sharp knifes?

I bought another recently because I like them & they work. I'm not attempting to resurrect beaten or trashed blades. For anything reasonably dull it works. Tonight I grilled a quality-cut 1-inch steak. I had sharpened a dull paring knife earlier and it was able to slice slits in lightweight paper. Thought to use that as my steak knife. It glided effortlessly through the steak. If this sharpener doesn't work for you on a decent, but dull, knife edge, you have other problems.

While this does take the burrs off after sharpening it does not sharpen by itself, unless your using a really cheap blade that is super soft. spend a little more and get a better sharpener.

bought this with the intent of keeping it in a survival kit, but upon testing the sharpener found it to dull the already dull blade even more. tried many different methods but could not get it to sharpen a knife. save your time and money, get a quality sharpener this one is trash.

Don't let the low price fool you. This is another quality Gerber product. I just ran several of my pocket knives thru this thing and it works great. Very little effort needed. I am going to order several more for gifts/BOB/truck.
