Okay, it's cheap, it's a Taurus, and it's a 1911 style handgun. If your expectations are that it will be similar to a pistol costing twice as much, look elsewhere. Mine showed up with a pretty good polish / blue job. Machining "notches / nicks" from poor craftsmanship were found on the right side lower slide serrations. Quite noticeable. These slipped past quality control. Other machine marks (circular swirls) located in front slide serrations were also apparent. Worst of it all was the barrel - I wouldn't shoot through it - as it had HEAVY machine marks (asymmetrical) on the inside crown and I was certain that it would adversely affect accuracy and might even be unsafe. I bought an Ed Brown barrel for it, replaced the slide stop and firing pin stop, replaced the ambi safety with a high quality Colt style single, and plan on replacing the beavertail grip safety (the one on my pistol is gloss black painted, not blued, low quality casting apparently) and plan on replacing the sear and hammer with Wilson bulletproof designs. If you want an inexpensive plinker that you can spend some money on to refine sometime in the future, why not give this one a chance. If you want something more refined, you might want to look elsewhere. Oh, one final note - the only parts I can see that are not "1911 compatible" are the series 80 firing pin lock plunger and spring. Also, the head of the grip screws are larger than the Colt's. The firing pin plunger lock and spring on my Colt is quite a bit larger diameter, so these parts cannot interchange between the Colt design and Taurus. As always, your mileage may vary, and these are only my observations / opinions based on my purchase.
