Ordered this for my Rock Island 1911 as an upgrade, haven't been to the range yet with it but with heavier spring and a full length guide rod the gun feels pretty solid locking up. Also your going to want to buy the bushing wrench if you order this kit. It makes the install of the heavy spring way easier.

I haven't got a chance to try this at the range yet, but this was pretty easy to install, even for a novice like me. I have a cheaper Rock Island Armory 1911 and I've been toying with the idea of making a hobby of customizing it. This Shok-Buff system is the first step. Putting the recoil spring plug on one of these tighter springs is pretty tough on your fingers, but that was the trickiest part. Everything seems very tight and smooth when operating the slide.

Yeah, this should be standard, but for the price I'm not complaining! It was an easy install and it made my Colt 1991A1 smooth as silk! Best bang for the buck!

All I can Say is WOW!!! What a Difference! My Auto Ordnance really came to life with the addition of this kit. My shot grouping at 25 yards went from about 5 inches down to nearly 2. Combine this kit with a Hogue wraparound grip and a muzzle compensator and now I am consistently getting sub 2 inch groups at 25 yards using good ammo. As for the recoil, it's almost like shooting a 9mm! Quality for money, you cant beat this kit. If you have a stock configured lower end 1911, this works like magic. I'll keep it on my Auto Ordnance, but no need for it on my Kimber.
