Tasman Salt Yellow Folding Knife -
The Tasman Salt folder features a Hawkbill blade. This distinctive curved cutting tool has a claw like tip that originated in the marine and commercial fishing industry. Cutting in and around water involves cutting line, netting and rope and it's done quickly, often at arm's length while pulling downward or toward you. The blade's arcing tip holds what you're cutting against the sharpened edge keeping it from slipping off the tip. Spyderco's new rustproof Hawkbill blade is made with state of the art non-rusting H-1 steel. The hollow ground blade comes PlainEdged or SpyderEdged with both configurations offering remarkable cutting performance in and around fresh and saltwater. Textured with a Volcano Grip® pattern, the molded fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle is offered in black or visible marine yellow. It's equipped with a reversible left and right hand titanium pocket clip (also non rusting) that positions the folder tip up in the pocket. Spyderco recommends threading a thong or cord through the lanyard hole for back up retention around water, where once dropped, a knife is often lost or irretrievable.

Hawkbill Blade -
Blade shaped in a sharply curved hook like the talon of a raptor. The inside edge of the blade is sharpened and works particularly well for commercial fishermen who reach out and pull toward them while cutting line, webbing and netting.

PlainEdge -
Sharpened knife blade with no serrations or teeth. This blade is sometimes called a smooth blade.

Precipitation hardened steel containing nitrogen instead of carbon, which cannot rust.

Hollow ground -
An edge that is ground with a radius leaving a concave shape above the cutting surface.

Lanyard Hole -
A hole placed in the end of a knife handle opposite the blade. Originally used by sailors who would place a cord through such a hole in their knife to keep from losing it overboard.

Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon (FRN) -
A nylon polymer mixed with glass fiber that is then injected into a mold for making lightweight knife handles.

Round Hole™ -
Round hole located in the knife blade used for one hand opening and closing of a knife blade.
