This is my .380 self-defense ammo of choice. Of about 8 types of ammo, including 3 self-defense loads, this was the one my wife chose as the "easiest to shoot." Some say that this ammo is underpowered and maybe that's true, but I find it at least 100% more valuable to have a round that you or your loved one can practice with rather than that "magic uber killer hit 'em in the pinky and they're going down" mythical bullet that doesn't exist and is uncomfortable/painful to shoot. I've shot several boxes (not an inexpensive endeavor) through my wife's Walther PK-380 and my Kel-Tec P3AT with zero failures. I have not shot it in the dark so I can't speak to muzzle flash. This is the ammo that goes in our guns when the wife or I are carrying.

Several years ago I had a Colt Officer and Bersa in which I fed the Hydra Shok...No problems. Recently I was given my Grandpa's HK Mod. 4(9 Kurtz, 380 A.C.P.)and quickly shot 3 boxes of the H.S.s without hiccup from an older gun... Accurate as Federals reputation, and listed highest rating for standard pressured H.P.s in self defense. Grandpas gun has worthy ammo

I have tried Most Every round out there for my 3 different 380's: Colt Mustang, Colt Mustang Lite, and Kel-Tec P-3TA, This Round is the most accurate round I have ever used in my pocket Rockets, I have never had a faliure, of any kind, no feeding problems, or stove pipes ect... If these Rounds were as weak as the last guy stated the wild Boar I shot on my property with my P-3TA, while scouting for a sutaible deer stand last month the shot I placed in his skull at approx. 19 yards would have bounced off this tough critters Noggin, instead it was a one shot instant kill with only a bit of leg twitching, the boar weighed 233 pounds and had 4-1/2 inch Tusk's and I could have been seriously injured, or killed! I stand behind Hydra shok rounds in the two calibers I carry my 380's and my Colt 45 ACP's, they are just as accurate in the 45 ACP as in the .380's and I have taken deer out to 57 paces, approx 50 yards, and closer with one shot Kills every time, with the 230 grain 45 acp Hydra's, I recomend these rounds for their reliability, killing power, knock-Down power, and extreem accuracy with no fiddling with the sights or compensating high or low for the two rounds I have tried, I assume they are just as fine in other calibers as well! I have shot at least 2000 of these Great rounds Plus others i have heard were hot, but nothing i have tried has ever stood up to the accuracy and stopping power of these great expanding, hard hitting rounds, They possibly saved my life with the hog, with a single shot through one of the thickest skulls you will ever come across in the South Eastern U.S.!!!!!!

These rounds are very light loaded, which is typical for American .380ACP ammunition, but still unacceptable. I doubt the effectiveness of JHP in this caliber anyway, especially out of pocket pistols like the LCP or P-3AT, you really need to use a hot loaded FMJ with a truncated cone profile for better penetration.

I have tried several different rounds for my new Ruger LCP 380. I have noticed alot of punch from the other rounds(cheap Monarch fmj and hollowpoint and Hornady). I realy like these. no jaming, no misfires, less recoil than other rounds and Federal quality standards. I am actually more accurate with Federal than most other rounds. I feel confidant that all 6 round in the mag in my little gun could be used at this very moment with no worries.
